Planet signs project to help the Federal Police of Brazil combat illicit activities

Planet, along with its partners Santiago & Cintra Consultoria (SCCON) has signed a crucial project in remote sensing with the Federal Police of Brazil. The project aims to combat illicit activities taking place in the country such as illegal mining, drug trafficking, deforestation etc.

Under a 12-month contract, Planet will provide rapidly updated satellite imagery to the Federal Police of Brazil and various agencies within Brazil’s government.

Planet stated in a statement that following two successful pilot projects, they are very honored to expand their contribution under this new contract to equip the government with the geospatial information and tools they need to accurately and effectively monitor their lands.

The statement also mentioned that they are eager to see the results of this partnership as officials in Brazil use Planet’s data to tackle the country’s most pressing challenges.
