Facebook has recently announced a partnership with Luxottica, the maker of Ray-Ban. The partnership is aimed towards releasing the primary pair of smart glasses, using augmented reality in 2021.

nbcnews quoted Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg as saying that after spending time with their team and visiting their factory, he knew that they were the perfect partner for them to assist bring the best technology alongside the best glasses.

He added that he can’t reveal the complete product details yet, but they’re really the next step on the road to augmented reality glasses. Facebook and Luxottica will make the glasses as a part of a multiyear partnership.

Facebook will release Project Aria, a search device that the corporate will use to learn as it develops its consumer smart glasses. The device is going to be worn by employees and contractors to assist them in understanding the way to build the software and hardware necessary for real, working AR glasses.

Facebook is additionally expanding its presence within the VR arena by launching a smaller, more powerful Oculus Quest 2 starting at $299 in October. The Oculus Quest 2 is $100 cheaper, 10% lighter, a touch smaller and is now also available in two-tones, light grey and black design.

Additionally, it sports a processor that’s twice as powerful, has more RAM and sports a better resolution display.  Pre-orders for the device have begun; the device launches October 13, 2020. The headset is compatible with all of the prevailing Quest content. The full list of features and review can be viewed here.
