How the Government is communicating via Maps?

The latest pandemic has left major job hubs deserted. When the government announced lockdown of 21 days in India, daily wagers started migrating to their homelands. It has increased the chances of community transfer of Covid-19 among the migrants. They could even carry the disease to their remote villages that are safe till now.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) under the supervision of Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, has come out with an innovative solution. They have shared a customized Google Map, locating various Hunger Relief Centers of Delhi. It is the right step at the right time.

Many migrant labourers are getting sick and losing lives while trying to return home. Ensuring timely meals will help to calm down the situation that may worsen in coming months if not controlled.

Stay at Home and Connect with Maps

The government is committed to providing food and shelter to everyone. It is hard to see people migrating because of unemployment and hunger. To help the daily wage workers and labourers, the Delhi Government is providing free food to the needy.

It is also a way to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Since it is crucial to stay in one place, providing help to jobless and homeless is the right decision of the government.

Around 500 hunger relief camps have been set up by Delhi Government to serve free food in this emergency. Proper security and arrangements are there in these centers. They are following the protocols of social distancing to avoid the spread of covid-19.

How to use Google Maps to find nearby Hunger Centre in Delhi?

Click on the link to get started. To find out the nearest shelter home, marked by the Red crossed spoon & knife, zoom the map. You will also find the Blue food & beverage icon on the map. It denotes schools. Once you click on your nearest shelter home, you will get the exact address on the left.

You can even share the above link to help others. If you want to guide someone through directions, go to the directions icon. It is located on the top-right corner of the Red Banner denoted by a Quadrilateral with the right arrow inside.

While you are sharing the location with someone, look for walking routes that are shorter. Enter the source point and share the direction over WhatsApp or another chat option.

Another simple way is to ask the person to search the shelter name on Google Maps. For more precise location, provide them with the coordinates in the form of latitude & longitude for searching on Google Maps.

If the person you are trying to help does not have a Smartphone, follow this procedure. Enlarge the walking route and the direction details and note the major landmarks. Share it via SMS or a written paper.
